Before you look around

We've got some really cool spinning art to show you, but we don't want anyone getting hurt.

Photosensitivity warning: the paintings on this page spin fast when you hover over them, and the app's fast spins, light pen and glowing effects can flicker. A small number of people can have seizures from flashing lights, even with no history of epilepsy. If you or your child has epilepsy or has had a seizure, check with a doctor before using the app. If anyone feels dizzy, has changed vision, twitching or confusion, stop straight away and see a doctor.

Spin it

A real spin-art table, in your hand

Speed the table up or slow it down, flip the spin, tilt it and give it a bump. Keep adding colours until it's just right.

  • Paint flies out from where it lands, following the spin
  • Mirror copies (up to 24) and folding for kaleidoscope patterns
  • Save a smooth spinning video or GIF of your finished piece

Real paint

Paint that behaves like paint

Every paint has its own body, shine and flow.

  • Acrylic, oil, watercolour, metallic and glowing neon
  • Thin paint glazes over the colours underneath; thick paint stands up in glossy ridges
  • Wet paint dries over time, and new paint lands on top
  • Zoom right in to see the brush marks and paper grain

Pour & bloom

Cells that bloom like a real pour

Layer a cup of colours, pour it, then warm it with the hair dryer and watch lacy cells open up through the paint.

  • Pour layered cups for rings and cells, or throw the whole cup
  • Hair dryer pushes wet paint and blooms it into cells
  • Pick a cell activator, each giving its own kind of cells:
  • Silicone oil
  • Dimethicone
  • Alcohol
  • Pouring medium
  • Just air

Pens & patterns

Draw with light, loops and flowers

Felt pens, crayon, pencil and chalk, plus pens that do things real pens can't.

  • Light pen that draws glowing threads as the table turns
  • Loop pen with classic loop-drawing patterns, roses, hearts and more
  • Flower pen with petal colour mixes, from Sunset to Galaxy

Up close

Texture you can almost touch

Zoomed right in on pictures saved from the app: ridges, cells, streaks and the grain of the paper, all made by the paint itself as it runs, blooms and dries.

Tricks for your eyes

Spin them, and they come alive

All three were painted in the app. Nothing on them moves except the turn itself, yet your eyes will tell you otherwise. Hover over one and keep watching.

A black and white spiral with four arms, painted with a marker

The endless spiral

Stare at the middle while it turns. The spiral seems to pour inwards forever. After 20 seconds, look at the back of your hand: it will seem to swell and creep for a moment.

A twelve-spoke wheel of neon tubes, dots and hearts on black paper

The wheel that runs backwards

Keep watching as it speeds up. Soon the wheel seems to slow down and creep the wrong way, like car wheels in a film, even though it is really racing forwards at hundreds of turns a minute.

A spiral of glowing threads drawn with the light pen while the table turned

Threads of light

Drawn with the light pen while the table turned. As it spins, the glowing threads seem to flow through the middle without ever running out.

Bold spinning patterns can make some people feel dizzy. If they bother you, look away.

Finished, signed and framed

Ready for the wall

Put your art in a real-looking frame (oak, walnut, ebony, gold or silver leaf) with a mat and glass, on a wall, in a gallery or on a shelf. Give it a title on an engraved name plate in brass, silver, black metal or wood, and sign it on the art or on the mat. These frames, plates and signatures were all made by the app's Frame it feature.
